Following
the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the United States deployed
several of the elite State Task Force Urban Search and Rescue
Teams. These teams were armed with state-of-the-art
victim location and rescue equipment, including the Task
Force Rescue System and thermal imaging
cameras manufactured by Zistos Corporation. The
system is designed to be inserted into void spaces to look
and listen for victims that may be trapped in rubble following
a building collapse. The systems were used successfully
by the teams to help locate and extricate a number of victims
entombed by rubble and debris.
Congratulations
to all of the brave men and women of the Task Force Teams
that made a real difference and saved numerous lives following
this catastrophic event.
Congratulations
to the Houston Fire Department
Congratulations
are in order to the members of the Houston Fire Department
who were recently involved in a rescue effort that received
international attention. On Tuesday April 14, 2009, three
men were trapped when a building that was being renovated
collapsed in on them. The Houston Fire Department was successful
in locating the victims and getting two of them out alive.
Sadly, the third victim was crushed by debris and succumbed
to his injuries on scene. Victim location cameras manufactured
by Zistos were used successfully to locate the victims of
the collapse in the rubble.
Tragedy
in Binghamton NY
On
April 3, 2009, a deranged individual was involved in a shooting
at the American Civic Association
building in the suburb of Binghamton, New York. The incident
resulted in the deaths of 12 innocent victims, 4 critically
wounded, and many other people held hostage. The shooter
ultimately took his own life. The Binghamton Police Department,
as well as other regional law enforcement agencies responded
to the situation with their tactical and support teams.
With the status and location of the shooter unknown, the

operation to perform an initial visual assessment of the
situation upon entry. The tactical team was successful in
getting all of the wounded out alive and there was no injuries
to any members of law enforcement. Congratulations to all
those members of the team for a job well done.

CBS
EXCLUSIVE REPORT:
Police Swat Exercise Touts Zistos
In
a recent special report, Pamela Jones of CBS2 News, in Northwest
Indiana highlighted the Zistos Tactical Surveillance System.
The Merrillville Emergency Response Team demonstrated the
Zistos system in a real SWAT training exercise. Jones explained
that officers often get hurt going to a door to serve a
warrant or entering a standoff situation where their assailant(s)
are hidden. The use of this technology allows a tactical
team to see into dangerous areas at a safe distance —
even in the dark. The Tactical Surveillance System can be
a life saving tool where situational assessment is crucial.

HOLLYWOOD...
Take Three!
We’ve
made it to the big screen in movies like Spike Lee’s
Inside Man and to the little screen in hit shows such as
Law & Order and CSI. Now, instead of being just a prop on
the set, Zistos gear is being used as it was intended to be used
– for video surveillance and search!
Look for our equipment in upcoming episodes of History Channel’s
Cities of the Underworld as we explore the depths of
forgotten world. Our equipment aids in accessing hard to reach
places unseen for hundreds of years.
Also,
look for us in Animal Planet’s new show Night as
we study the nocturnal habits of the world’s most interesting
creatures. From a bird’s nest to an ant hill, we provide
access and a video feed in the dark night to help understand our
fellow earthly inhabitants.
