SAFEBORE — Gun Barrel Life Cycle Sustainment

A barrel is not a consumable. It is an asset with a service life. A tube leaves the depot in a known condition and then drifts: fouling builds, wear accumulates, and without a retained record every inspection starts from zero.

SAFEBORE closes that loop for DoD and allied fleets. GBIS is the instrument; SAFEBORE is the program that inspects the tube, removes fouling, verifies removal, measures the clean bore, and keeps the result against that individual serial number, so condition can be trended across the life of the barrel. Calibers 25mm to 155mm and larger.
